Talking therapy
Talking therapy offers a private and confidential space in which to explore thoughts and feelings. This can be helpful in overcoming specific difficulties or recurring patterns of behaviour which originate in earlier life experiences.
It leads to greater self-awareness and a deeper understanding of relationships, resulting in a fuller and more satisfying emotional life. Becoming more accepting of yourself and your emotions, can help you regain a sense of control over your life particularly in times of difficulty.
Psychotherapy
Counselling and psychotherapy are often used interchangeably or collectively labelled 'therapy'.
Counselling tends to focus on the recent onset of specific problems or life events like bereavement. Psychotherapy addresses deeper and more complex issues which have built up over a longer period of time and may take longer to work through.
Certain therapy styles suit some people more than others, so I draw on a range of approaches to provide the right support for you.
Psychosexual Therapy
Psychosexual therapy or sex therapy, is a talking and behavioural therapy aimed at helping couples and individuals understand and resolve specific sexual difficulties and improve sexual intimacy in their relationships.
If no medical explanation been found for your difficulty, your healthcare professional may suggest psychosexual therapy.
